Liam McKay

Liam is a Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team and is based in our Glasgow office. He is a generalist practitioner within the fields of civil and commercial litigation and assists his colleagues with a broad variety of contentious and non-contentious cases, in addition to managing his own case load. He primarily advises private individuals and private sector businesses and enjoys working with clients to find tailor-made solutions for their circumstances. Liam’s areas of work include contractual and property disputes; professional regulatory disputes; and reparation. He regularly appears in the Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland.

Liam has had an enthusiastic interest in litigation since commencing his law degree at Strathclyde University in 2014, at which time he became a Student Award at Strathclyde’s student-led Law Clinic. Throughout his studies, he provided legal advice and representation to individuals in the Glasgow area on a voluntary basis. Liam was awarded the Head of Law School’s prize upon graduation in 2018 and latterly worked within Strathclyde Law School as a tutor on the international private law, commercial law, EU law, and evidence modules.

Liam was born in Vancouver in Canada and grew up in the damp climate of the Pacific Northwest. Having moved to his family’s native Scotland as a child, he feels right at home! Outside of work, Liam is an avid film lover, with a particular interest in the science fiction and horror genres and enjoys adding to his ever-expanding collection of titles. His top three directors are David Lynch, John Carpenter, and David Cronenberg.
