Our work covers both the public and private sectors, engaging with developers, lenders, contractors, intermediaries, and consultants.

The expertise of our cross-sector team, covering both contentious and non-contentious matters, and input from colleagues in real estate, planning, corporate, dispute resolution and banking enables us to provide an unrivalled service to our renewables clients.

Due to the high value of the construction works on a project, it is important to get advice on the structure and interface of the construction works at an early stage. Renewables projects typically include a number of discrete works packages that need to be co-ordinated with the purchase of key equipment such as wind turbines and batteries. Developers may instead look to appoint a single contractor on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) or “turnkey basis”.

Our lawyers have extensive and first-hand experience to help advise our clients through every stage of a project. From considered guidance on procurement, negotiating, structuring, and drafting construction contracts to dispute management and avoidance. This also includes a broad understanding of risk allocation, financing and equity structures, and maintenance and service agreements.

By understanding our clients’ commercial ambitions and drawing on our practical expertise, we seek to identify any potential difficulties at the outset in order to mitigate or avoid the likelihood of incurring additional costs down the line.
