Trainee Licensing Paralegal - Corporate
A vacancy has arisen for a licensing Paralegal within the Corporate department, based in the Glasgow office and reporting to Joanna Millar
This role has great opportunities for growth and whilst it is a trainee position at the moment, the individual will require to undertake personal license training course and an accredited licensing paralegal qualification.
You may be responsible for
- Drafting and lodging license applications for all types of licensing
- Liaising with clients, licensing authorities (councils) and third parties before and after applications are lodged
- Attending licensed trade and hospitality sector events where required, such as conferences, local events and similar
- Keeping an action list, diary, list of current applications and principal license lists and ensuring they are accurate at all times
- Assisting with billing and with Dataroom management
- Typing and formatting documents using Word, Excel and Powerpoint including dealing with dictation
- File opening and onboarding clients
- Scanning, saving, and distributing incoming mail
- Photocopying, scanning, printing, binding, filing, and archiving
- Supporting the preparation of bulk documentation, files, and bundles
- Assisting with ad-hoc departmental projects
- Providing ad-hoc cover for reception and for other PA/administrative teams within the firm
- Assisting with setting up for events/large meetings
- Filing both electronic and paper documents
What you will need to succeed
- Experience not essential initially as a trainee – however a “can do” attitude is
- Before progressing to a qualified paralegal there would be an expectation that you have demonstrated competence in licensing work
- Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages and other IT resources provided by the firm
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise and work well with partners, fee earners, business support staff, other PA’s and clients
- Excellent team-work and an ability to proactively ensure good levels of client service and care
- An ability to demonstrate common sense and a methodical approach
- Good presentation skills with an eye for detail
- You will act professionally and be a representative for the firm
- Enthusiasm, commitment, flexibility and a positive attitude to learning new skills
- Ideally candidates should have National 5 (or equivalent/demonstrable ability) in English
- A genuine desire to develop a Paralegal career
