Accounts Payable Supervisor - Edinburgh
Are you passionate about Finance? We're looking for a motivated and skilled Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our Finance team.
Purpose of the role
To manage and lead an accurate and efficient accounts payable function as part of the finance department and provide excellent service to our internal and external clients. The role reports to the Financial Controller.
Your role is to:
- Lead and manage a small accounts payable team to ensure optimal distribution of tasks and accurate and up to date Accounts Payable data
- Contribute to the wider finance team through pro-active collaboration
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, credit notes, credit card spend and expense claims
- Manage the accounts payable mailbox
- Liaise with fee earners and support teams as required to ensure accurate data
- Reconcile supplier statements to the finance system
- Ensure data quality is fit for purpose for those issuing bills to clients
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and liaise with suppliers as required
- Ensure new suppliers are set-up accurately
- Produce accurate payment runs within agreed timescales
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of purchase ledger control account with the GL
- Perform monthly reviews of aged creditors
- Perform monthly accounts payable tasks and checks
- Continuously improve accounts payable processes and procedures
- Draft relevant policies and procedures as required
- Take a lead role in accounts payable improvement projects
- Prepare relevant training material and deliver training to colleagues as required
As an Accounts Payable Supervisor, you will be expected to:
- Be an excellent team leader, motivating and supporting team members to perform and develop
- Have an excellent understanding of accounts payable processes and internal controls
- Have a good understanding of VAT
- Have an excellent knowledge of accounts payable function in a legal firm
- Have a good understanding of LSS and SRA account rules
- Have excellent Excel skills
