HR Adviser - Edinburgh or Glasgow

We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and proactive HR Adviser to join our team.

The Role

Anderson Strathern’s HR department is responsible for delivering the firm’s people strategy to support the firm’s growth ambitions and an exciting new HR Adviser role has arisen.  Reporting to the HR Director, you’ll be responsible for supporting with recruitment; employee relations and general HR-related issues

You will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with partners and senior stakeholders to drive HR initiatives supporting the firm’s strategic objectives
  • Managing recruitment drives including advising/coaching hiring managers on recruitment process
  • Assisting with graduate and summer placement recruitment – participating in law fairs; assessment centres; liaising with departments to coordinate the placements
  • Assisting departments with talent management, performance development and fostering a high-performance culture
  • Providing expert guidance on employee relations, including performance management, grievances, and disciplinary processes
  • Leading succession planning and career development initiatives for fee-earners and support staff
  • Providing HR analytics and insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Ensuring electronic records/HRIS are maintained in line with GDPR requirements
  • Assisting with Law Society of Scotland and SRA procedures
  • Monitoring and responding to general HR enquires within the HR mailbox and from line managers
  • Assisting the HR team with projects or initiatives such as our E, D & I agenda, Wellbeing, etc
  • Supporting the HR Assistant with administrative tasks
  • Collaborating with HR team to deliver HR-related training

What you will need to succeed:

  • 2 years + experience within a generalist HR role
  • CIPD qualification
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practices, and employee relations
  • Excellent organisational, communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • A team player who can work under pressure and is results-focussed
  • Have a proactive, innovative and flexible approach to work
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite
