Receptionist/Administrator - Kirkwall

Anderson Strathern is a full-service Scottish law firm with established offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Haddington and Lerwick.    As part of an exciting new development, the firm will shortly be opening its own dedicated office in Bridge Street, Kirkwall.

The team

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in a busy and varied role based at the firm’s new office.  You will be the first point of contact for ensuring clients and visitors have a positive and professional welcome to the firm. Your role will extend to providing administrative and secretarial support to the solicitors and dealing with office tasks.

This role is available full-time or on a job share basis. The role is entirely office-based, with the office being open 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

What the role will involve

  • Welcoming clients and visitors to our office, providing a professional and personal welcome and a seamless service
  • General administrative tasks including audio and copy typing, diary management, switchboard, mail, scanning, filing document indexing and title enquiries/research for solicitors
  • Assisting with booking travel and accommodation
  • Assisting with organising client events and seminars and getting involved in local marketing initiatives
  • Providing back-up to the Lerwick reception team when required
  • Ensuring the reception waiting area is well maintained at all times – including general tidiness and restocking refreshments

As a Receptionist/Administrator, you will be expected to have

  • Accurate typing skills with experience of MS Office, particularly formatting in Word and the use of Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and organisation skills
  • The ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times

Previous experience in an administrative role is preferred, however training will be provided.
