Anderson Strathern strengthens Northern Isles presence with senior appointment

Anderson Strathern has strengthened its presence in the Northern Isles with the promotion of Ellen Eunson to Partner in its Rural team.

Based in Orkney, Ellen’s appointment – just two years after joining the firm – reflects growing demand for legal advice across the islands and the north of Scotland, particularly in the rural, agricultural and renewable energy sectors.

The move forms part of a wider round of senior promotions across the firm’s offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as Orkney, as the firm continues to invest in its core practice areas. These appointments support Anderson Strathern’s work with clients across Scotland, from the Borders to Shetland, and sit alongside further investment by the firm in the Northern Isles.

With 25 years of experience, Ellen advises landowners, farmers and rural businesses on a range of matters including land sales and acquisitions, agricultural tenancies, partnerships and succession planning. She also advises on crofting and renewable energy projects, acting for both landowners and developers.

Her promotion ensures clients in Orkney and the surrounding areas continue to have access to specialist legal advice locally.

Ellen said: “I’m pleased to be taking on this role at a time when there is increasing demand for specialist legal services in the rural sector in Orkney, Shetland and the north of Scotland. Being based locally allows me to work closely with clients and support them on the issues that matter most to them.”

Carole Tomlinson, Chair at Anderson Strathern, said: “Ellen has built strong relationships with clients in Orkney and Shetland across the rural sector. Her promotion, alongside others across the firm, reflects our continued investment in supporting clients all across Scotland, ensuring they can access the best possible support and expertise locally.”
