Anderson Strathern Inquiries Unit lead named Lawyer of the Year

Our Partner Catriona Watt, co-leader of the firm’s Inquiries Unit has been named Lawyer of the Year at this year’s Scottish Legal Awards.  Catriona picked up the title at the ceremony in Glasgow last week.

Catriona was a key part of Anderson Strathern’s two-year involvement in the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry – representing the National Federation of Sub Postmasters. She is also highly regarded for her work on the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry and the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry.

Catriona’s work across this wide range of public inquiries and her pivotal role in setting up the firm’s recently launched Inquiries Unit was recognised by the judges.  Catriona, together with colleague Sarah Phillips, leads a team of more than 10 solicitors working across Fatal Accident Inquiries and Public Inquiries.

Catriona Watt said: “To be named Lawyer of the Year is a genuine honour and a real stand-out moment, particularly given how strong the rest of the finalists in the category were. It has been a privilege to work with the fantastic clients whose cases contributed to this award. It’s been an exciting year as we launched Anderson Strathern’s specialist Inquiries Unit and I’m proud of the work we are doing, and the recognition we’re receiving.”

Fraser Geddes, Chair of Anderson Strathern, said: “We’re very proud to see Catriona win lawyer of the year. It’s a real testament to her outstanding level of expertise and the excellent work she has done on some of the country’s most high-profile public inquiries.”
