Douglas Reid

Douglas H. Reid is a Scottish solicitor with approximately two decades of experience in private practice, specialising in agricultural and rural law. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, he holds an LL.B. (Hons), a Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Master of Divinity with Honours. His legal career has included roles with leading firms such as Brodies LLP, Anderson Strathern LLP, and Gillespie Macandrew LLP.

Douglas has extensive experience advising landowners, tenants, and rural businesses across Scotland, with a particular focus on agricultural tenancies, the endless twists of land reform, succession planning, and business planning. He is known for his ability to navigate complex legal and interpersonal matters with clarity and discretion.

In addition to his legal work, Douglas serves in governance roles as a non-executive director at both Cairn Housing Association and Castle Community Bank, bringing strategic oversight, regulatory insight and rigorous compliance to the boardroom. He also spent a period in ordained ministry, during which he developed skills in strategic change management, conflict resolution, and public communication that continue to inform his professional practice and his ministry.
