Senior Associate/ Director - Corporate - Glasgow or Edinburgh

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Associate/ Director to join out highly regarded Data & Technology Team in the firm's Corporate Department, which is recognised by the legal directories as "punching above its weight". The role will be based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh working with Partner, Douglas McLachlan.
We support agile working.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a broad range of matters for diverse client base that includes innovative Tech companies, Universities, Supermarket chains, UK and Scottish Government, Media companies and much more.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for advising on

  • Intellectual property licensing
  • Commercial contracts
  • Software licensing and development contracts/ IT contracts
  • Trade marks and brand management
  • Internet and domain name issues
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cyber Security
  • UK GDPR/Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act issues
  • IP and IT support for corporate acquisitions
  • UK and EU Competition law
  • Media and publishing
  • University commercialisation
  • Franchising
  • Agency, supply and distributorship
  • Supply of goods and services

What you will need to succeed

  • Experienced practitioner with up to 5+ years PQE committed to a career in corporate
  • Good interpersonal skills and self-confidence
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
  • A proactive, commercial approach with the ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively as part of the team
  • An interest in business development
  • Develop your client relationship and client care skills
  • Manage time effectively to maximise the profitability of your work and develop your organisation and delegation skills
  • Identify and manage risk effectively in your work
  • Typical levels of comfort and ability with technology
