Alastair is a Partner and joint head of Planning and Environment and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in planning law and has been elected as a Legal Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

He advises on all aspects of development and land use including inquiry advocacy, planning permissions, private bills, statutory orders, development plans, appeals, planning agreements, enforcement procedures, nature conservation orders, compulsory purchases and compensation, judicial review and statutory appeals.

Anderson Strathern are highly rated for Planning and Environment in the latest professional peer reviews. He offers over 10 years of experience in advising on all aspects of planning and environmental law.

He has a high profile caseload and acts regularly as an inquiry advocate. He is currently involved in many of the largest infrastructure projects in the country. In addition, he is advising clients on many complex planning agreements.

He is a frequent speaker on the conference circuit, has spoken extensively on the impact of Human Rights on Planning and has had many articles published on this topic. He chaired and gave a paper at the first national conference on telecommunication development. He has appeared on BBC Newsnight on two occasions in connection with planning law.
