Jamie is a Partner in the immigration practice, advising businesses, international investors, entrepreneurs and senior executives on complex UK and cross-border legal, regulatory and mobility matters.
His practice covers the full spectrum of UK immigration law and policy, with particular emphasis in global mobility, business immigration, sponsor licencing compliance and complex visa, nationality and regulatory matters. He advises organisations and senior individuals operating in highly regulated and cross-border environments, often on issues requiring careful judgement, discretion and strategic oversight.
He has significant experience working on sensitive and high-profile matters with international dimensions, including advising institutional and public-sector stakeholders on migration and mobility frameworks. His work frequently involves contested interests, public-law considerations and reputational risk.
He has held several senior professional and policy roles, including Co-Convenor of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association Scotland Committee, membership of the Scottish Government’s Strategic Labour Market Review Group, and service on the Scottish Board of the Confederation of British Industry. He has also served on the Immigration & Asylum Committee of the Law Society of Scotland.
He is a regular speaker and commentator on migration, global mobility and the role of law in supporting international talent and inward investment. Alongside practice, he tutors human rights law and commercial awareness at the University of Glasgow and has lectured internationally on migration law.
He is also a Writer to the Signet (WS) and has served on the Council of the Society of Writers to His Majesty’s Signet.
