He led the team advising The Crown Estate on the world’s first commercial wave and tidal energy development in the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters — a groundbreaking project requiring novel legal frameworks.

Gavin has also advised on the Scottish elements of the Round 3 offshore wind projects within the UK Economic Zone and negotiated exclusivity agreements for proposed offshore wind farm developments in Scottish territorial waters.
