People-first approach puts Anderson Strathern in the running for UK Employer of the Year

Anderson Strathern has been named as a finalist for UK Employer of the Year at the Investors in People Awards 2026.

The independent firm, which has almost 400 employees across five offices – in Edinburgh, Glasgow, East Lothian, Orkney and Shetland – was the first in the Scottish legal sector to gain Gold for both Investors in People (2011) and Investors in Young People (2016), in recognition of its people-centred approach to supporting colleagues.

The shortlist announcement follows news of Anderson Strathern welcoming 10 new trainees earlier this month and retaining all 10 of its current trainees as newly qualified solicitors, as well as growing its senior team with appointments in key practice areas such as Commercial Real Estate, Private Client and Immigration.

Murray McCall, Managing Partner at Anderson Strathern, said: “While the legal sector becomes increasingly focused on technology and AI, we have continued to invest in upskilling and supporting our already strong workforce.

“Our clients consistently tell us that the relationships they have with our people make all the difference, so it’s vital for us as a firm to foster a culture in which our teams feel valued, motivated and confident. That means we continuously listen to our people, seek insights and constantly strive to improve our working environment through opportunities to learn, develop and gain access to any resources or support they may need.

“Our partnership with Investors in People has been central to our success in attracting and retaining the best staff. It is more than just an accreditation – it allows us to continually challenge ourselves to maintain and improve our culture in a way that benefits our people and, in turn, our clients.”

As well as remaining committed to growing headcount across the business, Anderson Strathern is investing in specialist programmes to ensure the long-term success of its employees, including its new Business Development Academy and AI accelerator training.

The winners of the Investors in People Awards 2026 will be announced at an event in London on 18 November.
