Anderson Strathern’s commercial property team has played a key role in Northwind Leisure Golf’s appointment as operating partner for the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews’ (R&A) community-based golf and entertainment facility in Glasgow.
The independent Scottish law firm has revealed it acted on behalf of Northwind as part of the agreement to take on daily operations at Golf It! in Cumbernauld – continuing a run of sports and leisure sector deals in Scotland.
Experienced commercial property partner Paul Lombardi represented the Glasgow-based company, which operates a portfolio of sport and leisure facilities across the UK, including Great Western Golf in Clydebank and nationwide Goals football centres and Soccerworld facilities.
The deal sees Northwind take on day-to-day operations of Golf It! following three years of direct in-house management – while the R&A retains full ownership of the facility.

“As part of the agreement, we also negotiated an overriding lease of the entire Golf It! premises, which sees Northwind inherit a range of sub-tenants including American Golf, Game 4 Padel, Lullaby Lane Nurseries and the Big Feed.”
