Solicitor/Senior Solicitor - Planning & Environmental, Corporate

We have a vacancy for a Planning & Environmental Solicitor at PQE 1-5 level to join the Corporate department within our Edinburgh office.

Our highly rated Planning and Environmental Team advises across all sectors, from complex city centre sites to major housing developments, retail developments, and all types of energy and transport schemes. They act for many household names, such as Crown Estate Scotland, INEOS, Walker Group, Springfield Properties, Intu, Edinburgh Airport, East Lothian Council, and Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority.

The successful candidate will have some direct experience of Planning & Environmental work and demonstrate a keen interest in the law and policy of this field.  Suitable candidates may be working in private practice or in-house with a Local Authority.

Career progression will be available to the successful candidate.

Although support will be given, the successful candidate will be expected to manage their own case load and actively participate in business development.

The role will involve

  • Supporting the Team with a caseload of Planning & Environmental work and providing legal advice;
  • Drafting, negotiating, and concluding planning and related agreements;
  • Assisting as necessary with major development projects and attending project meetings including supporting senior staff on appeals and hearings;
  • Undertaking planning and related due diligence on Corporate Transactions;
  • Providing ad hoc planning advice;
  • 1-5 years PQE

In addition to demonstrating relevant legal expertise, you must demonstrate experience or enthusiasm in business development activities. The successful candidate should be able to manage a varied workload, be able to work alone and/or as part of a team, and have the ability to deliver a first-class service to our clients.  Training, mentoring, and support will be given.
