Legal PA - Private Client

We seek an experienced Legal PA to join the practice in Edinburgh to assist with the provision of legal services as part of one of our private client teams.


Anderson Strathern is one of Scotland’s leading law firms and is well known for its Private Client practice.  All members of the team have direct involvement with fee earners at all levels and support each other as well as other departments of the firm.

You will be responsible for:

  • Dealing with department documents, in-house and online (e.g., Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executries)
  • Opening new matters and general client/matter management
  • Editing, formatting and presenting documents well, complying with MSP85 Firm Style Rules and Brand Guidelines
  • Transcribing and producing correspondence and documents with minimal error
  • Booking travel, accommodation, courses and seminars
  • You may occasionally be required to undertake aspects of this role for other teams within the Firm as the case arises

As a Legal PA, you will be expected to:

  • Handle a significant workload under supervision
  • Develop your client relationship and client care skills
  • Behave professionally at all times by demonstrating professional and ethical conduct
  • Use your initiative to offer help or raise suggestions (rather than just responding to requests)
  • Instil confidence and trust that matters entrusted to you will be dealt with efficiently and quickly

What you will need to succeed

  • Well organised, methodical and able to prioritise your workload
  • IT literate, technically proficient in Microsoft products and in other software, for instance financial software, digital dictation/task workflow software (for example Aderant or BigHand)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A self-motivated team player, with ability to use initiative
  • An enthusiastic, positive individual with a can-do attitude
  • Flexibility and the confidence to help with promoting and implementing improved practices within the Department
