Accountant - Private Client (part-time)
Anderson Strathern is a large and highly regarded legal firm with an enviable Private Client practice which is seeking a part-time (21 hrs/wk) Accountant to join their accounts team. Flexible working arrangements including on location and remote-working are available.
Purpose of the role
To provide accountancy services to a wide portfolio of clients which range from private clients, trusts, estates, charities, companies and executries. All members of the team have direct involvement with clients and other departments of the firm.
You may be responsible for
- Managing a small portfolio, preparing trust, estate and various forms of business accounts, seeking technical support when required
- Delegating to the accounts assistant and overseeing their work as appropriate
- Working remotely or in the office using Teams to record workflow
- Demonstrating comprehensive and dependable skills across the range of work
- Over time, enhancing technical skills through training and experience to develop areas of specialisation in line with our business plan.
You will be expected to
- Provide a high level of client service in all work undertaken, maintaining the confidentiality of client and firm information within the department.
- Understand the need for care and diligence in your/the team and of the department’s work.
- Always maintain the highest level of professionalism on ethics and professional conduct.
- Have highly developed organisational skills.
- Deliver on financial targets and agreed goals, appreciating the various demands of the firm and clients and the requirement to deliver cost effective work across all teams and departments.
- Communicate and build relationships effectively at all levels both internally and externally through professional, proactive and positive communication with all parties.
- Contribute to the growth of the firm by assisting proactively in business development from referral sources, intermediaries and existing and new clients.
What you will need to succeed
- 5+ years of working in accounting environment, ideally in professional services environment
- Accountancy qualification desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of CCH Trust Accounts, CCH Accounts and Xero would be an advantage although not essential.
