Paul has fine-tuned his expertise in employment law and in discrimination and equality issues, where he provides advice on both contentious and non-contentious matters. He supports both public and private sector clients, from the Scottish Government and local authorities to higher education institutions, PLCs and SMEs. Paul is also a member of our Brexit group.
Paul advises both directors and employees on the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including TUPE and general contractual elements. He also negotiates and consults with unions on behalf of clients and appears regularly in Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Reflecting the depth of his experience and knowledge, Paul is accredited as Specialist in Employment Law by the Law Society of Scotland, where he is also a member of the Employment Law Sub-committee. Additionally, Paul sits on the Scottish Advisory Committee for the Employment Lawyers Association. As a result of holding these positions, he is frequently involved in government consultations on developments and proposals in employment law and he is also a qualified mediator.
Away from the office, Paul enjoys time with his family but he also likes to set himself some serious personal goals – such as reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Another adventure is already in the pipeline!
