Discrimination
The damage inflicted on an individual by discrimination is well known. The damage to business is different, yet very significant. Businesses must consider not only the obvious costs of management time, disruption and legal costs but also the potential damage to reputation. The Anderson Strathern Discrimination Law Service is the first dedicated discrimination service in Scotland which offers assistance and discrimination awareness to both businesses and individuals.
Discrimination law does not stand still - and dealing with the implications of discrimination legislation is a challenge for most businesses.

Employers are aware of the need to ensure there is no less favourable treatment of employees because of sex, race or disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation or age. But businesses must consider not only their employees. Their customers - and the public at large - are also entitled to access their services free of bias on any of the prohibited grounds.
Our service is designed to help you understand the implications for your business right across the board and keep you up-to-date with ongoing developments. We can help you to address potential issues before they arise and adopt practices that can open your business to new markets.

All businesses and organisations, regardless of size and sector, can face discrimination issues, either in employment or in the provision of facilities and services. We can assist by assessing the current position of your business against present and pending legislation. We will work with you to uncover any weaknesses or risks in your strategies and help you to implement changes that protect you from potential claims. And to help you avoid problems arising we can also provide you with bespoke training on a variety of topics including Equal Opportunities & Diversity, how to conduct an Equality Impact Assessment, bullying & harassment and basic Discrimination Law for Managers.

Based on our extensive experience of advising clients and handling claims we will provide you with discrimination law advice tailored to meet your specific requirements.

The full resources of Anderson Strathern support this service, bringing together expertise in Employment, Construction, Property, Licensing, Insurance, Planning & Environment, Litigation and Education.
