National Heritage Property |
Historic properties, land of historic, scenic or scientific interest, and objects and collections of national, artistic, historic or scientific interest form an integral and major part of the cultural life of this country. It has been the policy of successive Governments that this national heritage should be conserved and protected for the benefit of the community. |

In order for heritage property to remain in private hands, exemption from capital taxation is given on condition that the property is preserved and steps are taken to provide access to the public.
We can assist with advice on: |
- Ownership strategies for succession and preservation of heritage property within the family
- The rules on obtaining conditional exemption from inheritance tax and capital gains tax for heritage land, buildings and historically associated contents and works of art
- The tax position if conditionally exempt property is sold or undertakings are otherwise broken
- Maintenance funds for the financial support of heritage property
- Negotiations on your behalf with the Inland Revenue and national heritage bodies
