Devolution and the Constitution |
The devolution settlement encompassing the Scotland Act 1998, Northern Ireland Act 1998 and the Government of Wales Act 1998, altered the constitutional landscape in the UK. Devolution to Scotland, with the creation of a Scottish Parliament and Scottish Executive, has brought with it a demand for specialist legal advice on parliamentary procedure, on legislative competency issues, on the reserved/devolved settlement and on legislative drafting. |

Our Parliamentary & Public Law Unit can guide you through the complex legislative and policy environment and advise on Scotland's unique constitutional position as it affects your organisation. As well as offering drafting services, we have significant experience of advising on the implications of devolution and the division of reserved and devolved matters. We can also advise on matters relating to the Welsh Assembly and the Northern Ireland Assembly.
