Employment Contracts
Employment contracts represent the bare bones of an agreement between an employer and employee. They are the foundations on which formal working relationships are built. They exist to ensure that an employer receives the services which the employee is contractually bound to perform. They also provide employees with a set of terms and conditions which can be relied upon during the course of the contract.
It is essential that contracts are kept up-to-date, clear and precise at all times. Working relationships may be affected by new legislation or may become inaccurate as an employee develops and/or changes their role or as a company alters its practices. Making sure that your working relationship is stable and secure means monitoring and updating your contracts and conditions of employment.
Accurate and informed advice is an important part of this process. The Employment Unit can assist you with any contractual issues. Whether you are an employer or an employee, we can help. We are here to provide advice that prevents employers leaving themselves exposed to tribunal procedures and to protect the rights of employees in the working environment.

One part of our service is to monitor new legislation and keep you up-to-date. Knowing your rights and those of others will help you to better define your working relationships and ensure you are safely within the law.

Our experienced team can provide strategic advice to employers on structuring contracts and conditions of employment and amending them in line with internal changes within the organisation or new legislation. We advise many sizes of organisation in a variety of industry sectors. We also advise on director's service agreements, consultancy agreements, policies and handbooks, managing change of terms and conditions, managing termination of employment relationships, data protection and transfer of undertakings issues.
