Employment Disputes
Working relationships can break down just like any other. When an employment dispute arises it can have serious effects on a business including employees and their work. Disputes can arise around matters of support and recognition, status, harassment, breach of contract, capability, discrimination and many others. These situations vary greatly and can be both delicate and sensitive to all those concerned.
The Employment Unit is able to help in any dispute, whether you are an employer or an employee. In these situations employers need someone with expertise and knowledge to guide them through these difficult times. Employees need assistance to be made aware of and assert their rights. We are experienced in safeguarding the interests of both sides of disputes and can provide strategic and detailed advice from beginning to end, and beyond.
In some cases disputes will result in the matter proceeding to an Employment Tribunal. However there are often alternatives to litigation. We are always mindful of the sensitivities of both sides and the risks and costs involved in dealing with disputes. Finding the right solution is a key element to our strategy. We are skilled at negotiating to achieve amicable resolutions. We also regularly appear in Employment and Appeal Tribunals as well as the courts throughout the UK.

If tribunal or court action is required we are available to advise on all aspects of the process including lodging applications, defending them and assisting in tribunal procedures up to a full hearing. From the very first glimmer of a problem, we can provide companies and individuals with sound advice on how best to find a solution.

We are experienced in cases of unfair dismissal relating to misconduct, capability and redundancy amongst others. We can advise on contractual claims, transfer of undertakings, negotiating compromise agreements and ACAS settlements as well as collective issues including collective agreements, handling strikes and other labour disputes. As professional problem solvers we have a vast armoury of skills that can be called upon to help you.
