Copyright
Copyright can be a complex issue. Unlike patents or trade marks, copyright is not registered in this country. There is no formal process for copyrighting artistic or literary works, it arises automatically.
However, copyright cannot be claimed in just anything. There are particular requirements that an item must meet before copyright can be said to exist in it. We can advise you on matters ranging from publishing agreements and licensing of copyright materials to copyright protection measures and infringement cases.
We are also experienced in niche areas such as Digital Rights Management, or DRM. Digital materials such as music CDs, software, e-books etc. are increasingly vulnerable to copying, to the dismay of the copyright owner. DRM is a relatively new area of work which deals with ensuring digital materials remain secure and cannot be unlawfully copied.
