Statutory Interpretation

When public bodies are established, their very existence and their powers and duties are often founded in statute.

It is crucial that the day-to-day activities of statutory bodies operate within their founding statutory framework, whilst retaining a practical approach to carrying out their functions.

The Parliamentary and Public Law Unit has extensive experience of advising Scottish and UK public bodies on the interpretation of statutory frameworks and the interaction of founding legislation with general public law regulating public bodies.
