Anne is our Head of Charities. She has a wealth of experience in all aspects of charity law which is unmatched in Scotland. She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in charity law. She was for more than ten years the legal adviser to the Scottish Charities Office (SCO) and was latterly its Director. Thereafter she was Head of Investigations at the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
Anne has over many years conducted or supervised the majority of SCO investigations, including all of their major inquiries. She has also provided advice to many charities which were under investigation but where it was appropriate to address any shortcomings by offering the charity advice and assistance to improve its governance and management practices.
Accordingly Anne is uniquely placed to advise clients on all aspects of charity law including governance and management issues, regulatory requirements, fundraising, trustees' responsibilities, trading and campaigning, incorporation, and accounting and investment issues. She has a particular interest in regulatory compliance and investigation and fundraising issues.
Anne is a regular speaker at seminars and a leading commentator on charity law issues. She is also an experienced litigation lawyer.
