Robert is a Partner in our Corporate Group with wide ranging and extensive experience in the fields of property structures (including both onshore and offshore joint ventures, unit trusts, and limited partnerships), development and investment finance, and property development and investment transactions of all sizes. Robert was formerly In-House Counsel for the Stannifer Group of Companies which had over 3 million square feet of property under development together with a hotels arm comprising of 15 hotels around the UK.
Amongst many others during his time at Stannifer, Robert took primary responsibility for negotiating, completing and achieving drawdown of a £40m term loan facility for a retail park in Kirkcaldy, a £56 million development and investment loan facility for a large retail development in Northern Ireland, and for completing the financial assistance and whitewash exercise following the acquisition of the Stannifer Group by Chelsfield plc. Robert was also heavily involved in putting in place the finance arrangements under which Chelsfield plc acquired the Stannifer Group.
Robert took a key role acting for Duelguide plc (the Chelsfield plc take private vehicle) in connection with the putting in place of its £1.6bn permanent finance facilities. This entailed a group wide corporate restructure and a financial assistance/whitewash exercise involving in excess of 150 entities.
Robert joined Stannifer Group Holdings Limited (the parent company of the Stannifer Group) in March 2000 as In-House Counsel. It was acquired by Chelsfield plc in March 2004 and formed part of the Chelsfield take private later that year. Following the consortium acquisition of the larger Duelguide Group, Robert was appointed in August 2005 as a consultant in relation to certain key projects including the 825,000 sq ft mixed use development at High Wycombe involving dual offshore unit trust structures, loan facilities of c£190m and Development Agreement arrangements with the local Council.
Robert has held positions as both Director and Secretary of a number of UK, joint venture and offshore companies and is also dual qualified and admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
