Alan is a partner in our Employment Unit and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law.
He has developed extensive employment law experience over many years in dealing with a wide range of issues, from the restructuring of the workforces in high profile insolvencies to the negotiation and variation of individual contracts of employment. He has handled workforce issues in acquisitions and mergers; contracting out in the public and private sectors; PFI and PPP projects; the restructuring and reorganisation of workforces including collective consultation issues; resolving industrial relations disputes; handling disciplinary and grievance issues at all levels; and problems involving all forms of statutory discrimination, bullying and harassment.
He is a regular speaker at employment law events organized by a variety of organisations and at In House Client seminars.
He frequently undertakes training for employers and umbrella organisations in employment law matters.
He has written many articles for general readership consumption, published in The Scotsman and Herald newspapers, in magazines such as CA Magazine and online on Workplacelaw.net.
Alan is a Writer to the Signet and the Avocat-Conseil accredited to the French Consulate General in Scotland.
