John Biggar
John is a Partner in our Private Client department.
John is recognised as a leader in his field and has 30 years' experience in advising private clients on a wide range of matters. He joined us directly from Tods Murray LLP, where he was formerly Managing Partner. John's specialisations include wills, succession planning, trust formation and administration, tax planning, complex executries and charities.
His recent work has included advising the largest ever intestate estate in Scotland, a number of Court variations of high value private trusts, international contentious succession matters and one of the most significant pieces of Scottish charity law litigation in two decades.
John is an accredited specialist in trust law, a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners ( STEP ) and of the Law Society of Scotland's Trust and Succession Law Subcommittee. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
He has also co-authored both editions of "Drafting Wills in Scotland" ( Butterworths 1994; Bloomsbury Professional 2009 ).
