Robert is Chairman of the firm and was the winner of the Specialist of the Year Award at the Scottish Legal Awards in February 2004.
Robert is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in medical negligence and personal injury litigation. Robert is also a Solicitor Advocate.
He is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Department and is head of the Healthcare, Regulatory and Public team specialising in professional regulation and professional negligence, health service law and clinical negligence, advice for public bodies, personal injury and liability insurance litigation.
Robert is a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers and prosecutes professional disciplinary cases. He has significant experience of interpreting professional disciplinary rules and regulations with a particular focus on human rights law. Robert also has extensive experience in advising public bodies on the interpretation of their governing legislation and in acting on their behalf when their decisions or actions are challenged.
Robert has 25 years' experience of commercial litigation and delictual liabilities. He has been involved in pursuing and defending many major personal injuries claims including claims for medical negligence.
He has successfully pursued claims for injured parties, insurers and property owners and has recovered damages totalling well into 7 figures.
He has handled the defence of a number of high profile personal injury claims including repetitive strain injury claims, bulk deafness claims and psychological damage on behalf of a number of insurers.
