Keith Bishop has been involved in construction law since 1991 as an Associate at Maclay Murray & Spens and then Brodies where he headed up the Construction Unit. Keith joined Anderson Strathern from DLA where he was a partner in the Construction Group.
Keith acts for employers (both public and private sector), funders, contractors, subcontractors and consultants in the construction industry and advises on construction procurement strategy and the drafting of building contracts, professional appointments and collateral warranties. That work involves guiding clients through the tender evaluation process where necessary. Keith is also an experienced litigator and has wide experience of litigation, in both Court of Session and Sheriff Court, arbitration and other methods of dispute resolution.
He has studied construction law at London University and has been accredited by The Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in construction law since 1999 reflecting his expertise in both contentious and non contentious issues. Keith is currently seeking dual qualification in support of his increasing work with colleagues on property and construction projects subject to English law. Keith regularly speaks to clients, at industry seminars and lunches and at conferences on issues affecting construction law.
Keith's recent experience includes:
- acted in multi-million pound Harvey Nichols development in Edinburgh
- advised on and drafted an infrastructure contract for Edinburgh trams;
- acted for a local authority in multi million pound leisure centre disputes
- acted for a specialist sub-contractor in a claim against SPV following Edinburgh Schools PFI;
- advised an employer on the two-stage procurement of a £15m medical research and development facility;
- advising a developer on major infrastructure works and construction procurement for a mixed use development;
