Health, Safety and Environmental Policy

We are a full service law firm based in Scotland operating from offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Haddington and Currie. It is our policy to conduct our activities and deliver law services in a manner that minimises our impact on the environment, prevents pollution and provides a safe place of work for employees, contractors and visitors by:

  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulatory, and other requirements that apply to our activities
  • Recycling and reducing waste wherever possible and make efficient and environmentally responsible use of energy, water and other natural resources.
  • Reducing our head office carbon emissions and aiming to purchase paper products from recycled or FSC managed resources
  • Being fully committed to the prevention of injury and ill health to employees and visitors, whilst striving to improve health and safety performance.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards
  • Providing and maintaining high facility and workplace standards
  • Consulting employees and promoting Health, Safety and Environmental expectations and standards
  • Developing and maintaining systems and procedures to ensure that all equipment, plant and premises are safe and do not have an adverse affect on health
  • Identifying hazards, aspects and reducing risks to as low as is reasonably practical
  • Raising awareness, encouraging participation and training employees in environmental and health and safety matters.
  • Setting objectives, targets and programmes to continually improve our environmental and health and safety performance.
  • Encouraging our staff to play an active role in limiting and improving our impacts and risks
  • The implementation of and adherence to a framework of policies, procedures and processes that comply with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001 :2004 and BS OHSAS 18001: 2007

This policy forms an integral part of our Quality and Client Care Policy, Corporate Social Responsibility Policy and Business and Continuity Plans.

The Chairman and Managing Partner (H, S & E Management Representative) are
responsible for establishing and implementing adequate Health, Safety and Environmental arrangements within Anderson Strathern

All staff are expected to adhere to the above policy. Contracted staff are made aware of the policy and their obligation to work safely whilst under the control of Anderson Strathern.
