Jill Bell


Jill is the director of our discrimination law service – the first of its kind in Scotland.
She was appointed in 2002 having worked in employment law for nearly 20 years.
Jill has been involved in many employment tribunal cases in Scotland and England. She now advises on all aspects of discrimination law as well as advising employers, service providers and educational establishments on ‘best practice’.
Jill has acted in a large number of discrimination claims including claims under the goods, facilities and services provisions of the discrimination legislation and advises further and higher educational establishments on their obligations to students.
She has designed and delivered in-house training programmes for clients on equal opportunities and diversity issues including equality impact assessment training, dealing with bullying and harassment and basic discrimination law for managers.

A regular speaker at conferences, she is a member of the Scottish Discrimination Lawyers Association and the Employment Lawyers Association. She sits on the Law Society’s Diversity Advisory Committee, on the panel awarding specialist accreditation in discrimination law and on the Church of Scotland’s Legal Questions Committee.
